Great webinar, thank you. Underscoring points speakers have made, there's info on Opioid/Opiate deaths in today's Washington Post story (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/04/07/health-202-overdose-deaths-may-have-topped-90000-2020/) discussing a new Commonwealth Fund paper that estimates 2020 deaths at 90,000. thanks so much for sharing, David.
@David - thank you for sharing these resources!
An issue for patients at end of life pain ,symptom control, is that opioids are frequently beneficial, BUT... prescribers are reluctant to order, and nurses and family are reluctant to administer. Terrible for the patients!
@Dick Michael - thank you for your comment. It's good to see you on!
I think the recommendation to consent patients b/f initiating opioid therapy is a powerful idea. Is this becoming common practice in our communities?
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in today's informative and beneficial session! Suzanne M. Salichs, Wagoner Community Hospital, Wagoner, OK

If you already have a process in place, briefly describe it here in chat.If you do not currently have a process for identifying patients with opioid prescriptions at greater than or equal to 90 MME daily, will you consider implementing one?

Ok PMP website
Turnover of staff and complexity of patients being admitted to home care. I believe our providers have measures in place to address opioid use.
We work closely with our Pain Management physician.
